ER visits

Well, it has been 7 years since children have been in our home. 7 years, and only one ER visit. Cody was 2 1/2, and so sick. It was Christmas. He was so dehydrated he could barely move. Poor thing. He got an IV, and after a few hours, was finally keeping fluids down, and we were released. Now, Jacob has NEVER been to the ER for anything. And, for those of you who know Jacob, you can be just as surprised as me. It is okay. I don't understand how either. Now, a few weeks ago, we had to make another ER trip. This time for stitches. For Natalie. :( Cody was pushing her in a hammock swing that we had set up in the back yard. Natalie and Jacob were in the swing. Cody was giving them underdogs. He would push them from the back, and then he would push them from the front. Well, he was pushing from the front, and was about to run under them, when the swing tipped, and both Jacob and Natalie fell out onto the concrete. Jacob had a scratch. Natalie on the other hand, had a gash on her chin, a hole in her lip, and her two top front teeth were REALLY loose. At first, her chin didn't look too bad. When I couldn't get the bleeding to stop in 5 minutes, I knew she needed stitches. So, I loaded her up, and took her to the ER. They patched her up, and sent us home. A week later they took out the stitches, and now she has a little red line under her chin. Jared is worried that it will scar. I say, who cares? It is a battle wound. ;)

Noses

I was out in the backyard, checking on the chickens. When I was comming back to the door, I could hear Natalie screaming frantically. I ran the rest of the way inside, and tried to calm her down. I kept asking her what was wrong, but she was so hysterical, she couldn't talk coherently. Finally, I was able to calm her enough to figure out what was wrong. She had cereal stuck in her nose. I got out the flashlight, and laid her down on the couch, so I could see. Sure enough, there was an orange fruit loop stuck in her nose. After much blowing, we finally got it out. I have told her no more sticking things up her nose. We will see how long this lasts...

She also wanted to still eat the fruit loop. Don't worry, I didn't let her. ;)

Photo Shoot

I can't believe it has taken me almost 2 months to post about our awesome photo shoot experience with Andrea Whittle Photography . She does an awesome job. My kids love her! She also has a pretty fast turn-around for your pictures. Her prices are fantastic too, so if you are in the Phoenix area, contact her, and let her know I sent you. ;)

A decent picture of Cody without a funny face!

Jacob is the perfect little model. All of his pictures usually turn out really well.

My sweetheart. :)

All 3 goobers together and smiling! It must be a miracle!

I even got in on the action this time. We had a blast.

4-year old humor

This morning, I walked into the front room to find Jacob standing on a toy trying to reach the TV remote, so he could turn on the TV. The power button is on the side of the TV,and it is blocked by the bookshelf right up against it, so he has to use the remote to turn it on. I asked him what he was doing, and he turned to me with a very serious look on his face and said, "I am making up my own mind."

I had to leave the room before I started cracking up! It was so funny. :) I love this kid.

Idaho

We had a lot of fun in Idaho. We were always doing something. It was great to spend time with family that we don't get to see very often. Here are some pics of our adventures. I know, they are all pool pictures, but we did a lot of swimming. ;)

New Pets

Our chicken coop and run.

Natalie holding Pepper with Cody's help
Cody holding Peanut.

Jacob holding Brownie.

All the girls. Angel, Egg, Snowy, Coconut, Brownie, Chip, Pepper, Emily, Teddy, and Peanut.

The kids are having a blast with them. The girls are so gentle, and they let the kids pick them up and hold them. Cody just thinks it is hilarious when they scratch the ground. They are only 2 weeks old, so it will be awhile until they lay some eggs, but that is okay. We are having fun with them. :)

Go Jacob!!

Well, Jacob has been quite the master of things lately. He has now mastered the /k/ sound!! He can say "cup" and "cake" and "Cody" instead of "tup" and "tate" and "dody". We are pretty pleased with him. :)

2 Wheels!!

Jacob can now ride his bike without training wheels. He is so proud of himself. We have a little 12-inch bike that was Cody's. When Cody learned to ride without the training wheels, the training wheels accidently got thrown away. I went and bought new ones, so Jacob could use the bike, but they never stayed tight. Jacob would ride for a little bit, and then they would come loose, and Jacob would freak out, and not want to ride the bike anymore. After about a year of this, I finally just decided to take the training wheels off, and teach him how to ride. Of course, since he is so tall, he is now too big for the 12-inch bike, but I figured it was better to learn on a little bike....less distance to fall. ;) He was a pro in about an hour. He is now ready for a bigger bike, but since Cody is so short, they need the same size...that means I have to buy another bike. Or just let Jacob ride the teeny one until he grows into the 20" ones that we already have. :)

Haircuts

Well, I mentioned some people got haircuts. Here are the pictures.

I didn't mean for Natalie's hair to get that much cut off, but 6 inches are now gone.... :( At least she has her neck curls back. ;)

The boys got haircuts too, but theirs aren't as dramatic.

4th of July

Well. Here are pictures of Natalie's hair for the 4th. We didn't do a whole lot. We left the day rather low-key. We did do fireworks on Sunday though. Sorry about the bad quality. I had to take these with my phone, because my new camera hadn't arrived yet.

She loved having the spray glitter in her hair. I was even a bad mommy, and made her sleep in it, so I wouldn't have to re-do it for church the next day..... ;) We got lots of compliments.
